Artist Bio
Drawing and painting have always been sources of joy and frustration for me. While I have always felt comfortable and confident in the studio, still, like many artists, I am rarely satisfied with my work. I draw inspiration from my own life experiences and people I encounter along the way—thus my obsession with portraits. My artistic influences include artists Caravaggio, Egon Schiele, Jay DeFeo, Tiffany Bozic, and Ben Tour.
As an artist, I also consider myself an explorer of sorts. While I enjoy exploring different lands and cultures and ideas, I am also constantly exploring and discovering layers of myself. It is this need to challenge and expose my true character that led me to serve in the Peace Corps. What better way to unearth your deepest self than to live in an African village for two years with scarce resources and no amenities.
I am currently working on a series of portraits and landscapes from my experiences in southern Africa.
